Hi Sam999,

Which browser and operating system are you using? Also, do you have scripting enabled with your browser, as the crop feature does operate with scripting? I'm not seeing a problem with a quick check using either IE8 or Firefox 3.5.1 browsers.

Normally, you should see the standard image when you switch to crop. When you click and drag, the area outside the crop lines gets a dark opacity applied and the area inside (to retain) gets no opacity.

When you say it's "whiting out", do you mean the whole crop window/image, or can you give more detail on that?
