Does adding a tracking number, notify eBay?

When I go to my Sales Transactions page, and mark an item as shipped, I get a dialog box from Auctiva stating that eBay will be notified of the updated shipping status shortly.

I do not get a similar dialog box when I update the tracking number for an item from this same page. Is eBay notified of an update I make to the tracking number?
