Florida woman here! My hubster, two sons and daughter are or have been employed by Publix. Lakeland is the headquarters for Publix. From what I hear Publix is trying to get into the panhandle.
I've lived in Florida all of my 49 years and I've never seen a season like the last one. My father whose in his late 70s hadn't either. He states the difference now is that Florida is so grown up/built up that it's more devastating than during the earlier bad hurricane seasons.
We had four hurricanes right through my back yard last year. Polk County FL! I still have friends in rentals and condo's. Blue roofs here still, too.
