The Category your item is in and "item specifics" are tied together in the sense that different categories will have different specifics. If you've specifed your item as "New" on Auctiva, this should show up on your eBay listing:

Description
Item Specifics - Item Condition
Condition: New

If you add more specifics through eBay, they'll show up as well. (and betcha the search engines will key in)
This probably doesn't affect all categories, but it certainly does mine. Hope this clarifies.
