How to describe an item as new or used without item specifics?

I am using eBay UK and am trying to list items through Auctiva which have no item specifics.
Normally on eBay there is a box to describe the item as new or used but using Auctiva this only appears when using item specifics.
I did ask tech support but they said you can only do it using specifics, this means that I have to upload my items and then immediately go to eBay and revise them all - a very lenghty process!!
Does anyone know if there is a way to do this?
