Html codes in description box

Obviously I am new so maybe someone can help me as I did what I was instructed and I checked the Help files so now here

I listed html codes in my description box but when I click preview it still shows the html codes. I clicked the html code at the bottom of the box as instructed. I even click design to see but still html codes show. I also tried it in the text mode but still html codes. It is probably simple I am overlooking so please offer any suggestions
