The only thing Auctiva currently charges for is the shipping insurance, and extra reporting functionality for the counters you can add to your listings (the basic counter is free.)

Auctiva Checkout is free, there are no limits on how many listings, profiles, images, etc. you can have and its all free

As for your item description problem... please file a support case by clicking the Help link at the top of this page and scrolling to the bottom section. There we may assist you in more detail.
