I can't help with the updating, but the scrolling gallery can be placed anywhere in your template that you like.

It will take a few minutes on your part to create a custom template and add the scrolling gallery in your template where you see fit. Go to the custom template area to see a tutorial on how to do this and also the correct tags to insert in the template.
