I figured it was just the Auctiva server burping.

I'd bet anything that I'm not the only refugee from ebay's new list your item form. There are probably thousands of us.

In other words, my theory is that the Auctive server is experiencing overload. When I get the home page instead of the select your images page I just go take more pictures.
