Hi, I don't know why firefox wouldn't work for you. It's the only browser I ever use.
It's fairly simple to uninstall IE7 and revert back to IE6.
Go to the Control Panel, Add/Remove Software, make sure that the "Show Updates" is checked, and find IE7 and uninstall it.
