There have been a number of users that have noticed images disappear from their listings because we recently turned back on our service that permanently deletes images that have been marked as deleted after having suspended it since the beginning of June to give users who had not signed up for a plan yet some additional time to select a plan and be able to restore their images.
The main point of confusion in most cases we have seen is that it was not understood that our image deletion wizard and the other tools on the Manage Images page that indicate which images are being used in active listings will only recognize the association between an image and a listing if the listing was a direct post or relist done through Auctiva.
If an item was originally posted through Auctiva and then posted again through the eBay Unsold Items page after it came to a close using the "relist" or "sell similar" option, our system would no longer be able to tell the images in that listings are being used in an active listing.
