Errm gee-gee was a sanitised way of explaining the asterisks should be replaced by a single g each thus making a word which

"is not bad in the USA"

I actually thought there was a law against it in some USA states, Pete's word describing us using gee-gee's (aka horses unless you are referring to horses, better not go though with this)
