Second Chance Offers

For those of you who buy on eBay, how do you feel about Second Chance Offers?

I send them out and sometimes they're accepted, sometimes they're not. I sometimes find it odd when they're not but maybe they're not as fun as engaging in bidding wars, I don't know.

I've heard at least one person say they never accept them and I gather his reason was because he can't be sure if they're legit e-mails or not.

I'd happily send out unofficial second chance offers directly to customers if that's what people felt better about. But, then again, that's not a particularly safe move for someone who doesn't know me from Adam.

Any thoughts?
