SELLATHON Counters - NOT FREE?

I received a message from Auctiva saying that Sellathon Counters were part of their new free web-based service.
Sellathon now says that my "trial" subscription has expired and I have to "upgrade" (i.e., pay) for the service.
The message from Auctiva said FREE. Nothing about trials, upgrading - or paying.
