spare dollar changes

I'm a former spare dollar and current ink frog user. I am a newbie here at Auctiva and I am trying to adapt my custom template that I had at SD and was converted to IF. The main problem is the images. Does the image picker work the same as SD and how do I get around this 400x300 resizing.

Any general help on switching from SD to Auctiva would be helpful...or point me to a previous thread. ED
