spell check ,preview,special characters & full size editor not working

These features worked before,now they don't. Can any one tell me how to fix this problem. The spell check box comes up but I can't maximize it,so I'm unable to view/use it same with the special characters. The full size editor and preview is just the little box and I can't expand/maximize that either. Thanks Mary
