stripes on pictures

Out of every 10 pictures I upload I am only able to use 2 or 3 all others have varying color stripes through them. I reload and reload and reload until the images upload correctly. In what is the slowest uploading I've ever experienced it is made even worse with this problem. It took me 4 hours to get 12 usable images. HELP ME PLEASE!!
