Thinking about international shipping

I'm not sure if this is the best spot for this. I do not have a e-bussiness -yet I am currently auctioning off $3-4000 of collectables. I made everything usa onlt because I didn't want to get over my head, but I got a query from a canadian if I could allow him to bid. So here's what I'm hoping you guys can help me with. What's involved in shipping to Canada and the EU? Customs paperwork etc? Will the cost be calculated? What do you guys think? Also I see some guys restrict inter. orders to bidpay, which I've registered for and have listed but was not an option in Auctiva. Do I have to edit in html mode to get the bidpay link in there? Is bidpay really that much more secure and could I offer say a 3% discount for it?
