Reply to "why do I have to keep restarting"

I haven't had any trouble at all since last summer....I use IE and dump cache and cookies regularly. I have found Auctiva to be very efficient as of late. Maybe you should file a support request under the help link at the top of the page. They would probably have some suggestions for you.
