Hi,
Please help!
I am trying to list on ebay.com (I am from uk)and have created several BIN listing with quantities of no more than 5 of each. They are getting thrown back with the following message 'additional cost for shipping options is required when quantity is more than one'. I have offered a shipping discount when buying more than one but that didnt help (both through my account preferences and by checking the box on the listings). Not sure what else to try any help would be greatfully received as I am getting to the point of tearing out my hair!! Confused
Thanks ever so,
Carrie

Hi Carrie,

The error suggests you may be leaving the "Additional Item Cost" field for one or more Shipping Service selections blank on the one-page lister for Flat Rate.

When it's the same item/listing and you're buying multiple quanties, the eBay Combined Shipping rules (set in preferences) aren't used for Flat Rates. For that situation, the Additional Item Cost is used. If the cost is 0, then use/enter 0.

Hopefully, that's the error. Note, when using Calculated method, the rate is built on the combined weights.

Hi Danno,
Thank you so much for the reply and yes you are dead right! We have now managed to list the items and everything looks good so far. I think we got totally brain strained with it all lol. It's a pain we have to do it as we always ask people to request a revised shipping total as we combine items for buyers ourselves and it totally depends on how many and which items they buy as to how much the shipping would be. Having to do this makes our combined shipping prices look much more than they really are. We couldn't do it via weight as the items would have to be sent in heavier boxes which would add to the weight... it would be a nightmare to work out. Anyway thank you again sooo much for your help; I will know who to ask for when I get brain ache again in the future Cool
Hi,

Glad that suggestion worked.

I can appreciate the Calculated problem. I had similar problem at the opposite end of the weight situation. I was selling very light weight items that were at .6 oz each. With 5 items, you get 3 oz. However, in eBay-think, you can only enter shipping weight in whole ounces per item, so the combined items weigh 5 oz. So, I'd be overcharging for 1st Class by 2 oz.

There are times when Flat with as good a set of Add, Combined and S&H rules you can muster has to do the job (or be forever doing invoice fixes or refunds....yuck Eek ).

Have a good one.

Danno
