I am receiving the following API error saying that the Title, or Description, is not according to ebay policy. I listed 11 auctions last night with no problem this was the 12th and I got this API. Now I contacted Auctiva as I was instructed to do, Auctiva told me to contact Ebay. I am confused, everything I am reading concerning API problems is that we are to contact Auctiva. All I am trying to list is some perfume. Any suggestions. Thanks

ebay is now doing restrictions for new sellers on brand names and categories. I've seen a few other posts by members saying they'd checked on their similar API for cosmetics, etc. and gotten the restriction. Can't definitely say that's the problem, but you probably should talk to ebay and/or try listing directly to see if they have imposed a 7 day limit, i.e. no more than X number of listings over 7 days. There is a quick way to check. Try revising one of those 11 listings in same category on ebay and see if revise allows changes, or you get a policy statement about a restriction. The limit (total) also applies to revisions.

I had a restriction last fall on Software, so it's not limited to just perfumes.

Understood, but are you a new seller in brand name perfume or other cosmetics, i.e. entry into a new category with known problems in counterfeit/fakes or other policy issues is ONE of the possible causes for restrictions.

Was the 12th / failing listing the last one in sequence, or one of the early ones that failed.

Other causes for API are limitations, like not sufficent feedback rating for Buy-It-Now (rookie seller). That one catches alot of new ebay sellers, so I didn't think that was the case for you.

Hi Danno,
Just had a long conversation with ebay about this. They checked my account and said that I had no errors or restrictions on my account. Yes I have plenty of feedback, and I am not sure where the perfume came in on my attempted listing. Is there a way to tell. Ebay told me it had to be a glitch in Auctiva. Any more suggestions please let me know. If I list this in another category and then change it if it ever gets listed will that work?

I would recommend you try listing directly to ebay. That usually gets a very specific error for the generic API you mentioned. I'd list it exactly the same, use the HTML export to move the description and use exactly same Title, etc.

Everyone keeps saying the APIs are a glitch, but they seem to keep hitting some real problem. ebay has really cracked down, so it could be just about anything.

Yes, it could be an Auctiva problem. But, those usually have the Forum flooded with posts.

Edit: Just recalled a new policy that tripped another member a few days back. Seems for International sales on some restricted items, you must have a verified PayPal account and it must be linked to your ebay account. Here's text of messge they got on a direct submit to ebay test:

You can not submit your listing due to the following problems
