I just wanted to say that I have been using Auctiva for long time now. Without there FREE services I would not have been able to quit my 9-5 jobs and work full time from home on eBay. I have been checking the message boards often becuase I have been haveing the same issues as most of you, and for the most part all I see is people complaing about the quality of Auctiva's service or lack there of... What I don't see a lot of is people thanking Auctiva for offering there services at no cost. If you look around you'll see plenty of services chargeing upwards of $29.99 a month plus a percentage of the sale for a fraction of what Auctiva offers.

I know it may make me unpopular right now but dispite all the troubles you are haveing I just wanted to say THANK YOU Auctiva. Your service is GREAT and I would not be were I am today if it wasn't for you...

Sincerely,
James Lauer

I'm willing to cut Auctiva some slack, because it's an innovative idea that deserves a decent chance to succeed.

If eBay were my main source of income, there's no way that I would stay here and endure the service's shortcomings. That's not a knock against Auctiva - just a fact. They know they have problems, and I believe that they are doing their best to fix them - I don't believe that this is just a hobby for Jeff, so I have full faith that he is doing his best to make his business successful.

That being said, I don't delude myself into thinking that this service is "free". True, there is no monthly fee, or anything like what we are typically used to, but they do, of course, make money from us. They take a portion of the insurance policies that we sell to buyers. Although it is unconventional, we do pay for this service.

In the sense that we do pay for the service, we are also entitled to gripe about it when it is not performing up to our expectations. What I don't think we are entitled to, however, is to make countless threads saying "IT'S SLOW TONIGHT!!!!!11111", and "WHAT THE HELL??? THIS IS BULLS**T!!!1111", and all the countless variations.

Make constructive posts, or don't make any at all.

Hear Hear! A level head amongst the 'running around headless' - Well put bisquit!

You are one . .. The few . . . the far between, the understanding.

As with suthernjewel, get ready for the "mob" to converge on you also . . .

As to cabbage rose . . .

Whoa there girl, take a break - did you not see a moral .. . a lesson in the story about the "Mob Mentality" and what you get when you "Burn the 'witch' at the stake"?

You get a BIG FAT NOTHING.
Nothing but a "Burnt Pile of Stinkin Witch"
- that's it.

There is really no point in offending and being insultive of others when you are having problems elsewhere . . . kind of like the playground child who's basketball rolled away from them .. . instead of coming back . .. on command.
And in their tantrums they turn on others - not taking up the real problem, reasonably, but lashing out at anyone around them who looks like they might not be having a problem in the world, and THAT right there might just be the problem . ..

YOU are having problems, and anyone else who isn't . .. well that's not quite right in your little book of "Even and Even" is it?

So by virtue of that kind of thinking having become a way of life, you lash out and project that anger on others - just because you might have a chance of making them miserable also.

Long Story Short - Misery Loves Company.

Take into consideration that there ARE some people in the world who are REALLY, ACTUALLY NICE, by nature - not because they have a secret agenda that they are hiding by ACTING nice - they just ARE.

Suthernjewel seems to be one of those "For Real, Nice People" who probably are what one would call "lucky, or always seem to work out right for them.

I think that a personality like that - Helpful, Kind, Concerned, etc, etc. can be accounted to . . . Karma.

"What goes around, Comes around",
or
"Wherever You Go . ..There You Are".

In other words, you are what you are, no matter where you are, or where you hide, or what you deny, or what you THINK you believe.

Nasty is - as Nasty does.

I myself do not experience most of the problems that have been making the rounds .. .
Don't ask me,
I'm no 'Techie'.
I just know that I mind my own business-on the whole,
Cause no-one problems,
Am a nice person at heart,
and
I also judge and react to all in my life based on the "Attitude of Other People" thing .. .

So please don't let the my 'nice' fool you . ..

IF you are one that has ALL the problems,
NONE of the blame,
ALL of the excuses,
and a penchant for taking your frustrations out on others . . .
just make sure that you mind your P's & Q's around me -
When it comes down to
NOT doing the 'RIGHT' thing . . .

And that, Everyone, is . .. ?

"Treating Others As You, Yourself Would Like To Be Treated"

Very good . . . now I think you owe Suthernjewel an apology as I don't think your snide comments to and about her were called for.

And I for one certainly do not live on a cloud -lol,
that's a GOOD one -
and I also do not seem to have most of these problems.
Why?
Beats me . ..
But maybe there is more to Karma than most people really want to think about.
But maybe you should.

And biscuit, excuse me for highjacking your thread here.
The one with all the nastiness at others expense was closed . .. but I guess I must have had a couple of pennies burning a hole in my pocket!
Thanks for your tolerance in concerns to my lecturing on your dime. Wink\

So lets all Straighten up and fly right . ..
and remember -

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE . . .
(and a lot less stress)

Mariann
biscuit,
I since you do not concider Acutiva to be a "Free" service because they take a protion of the shipping insurance.. Did you ever stop to think that they actually pay you to use there service??? You get a portion of each product that you insure through there service. Like I said before... Since we get paid to use Auctiva, and they don't take a penny from our profits, they have certinaly earned my loyalty and I will be happy to allow them to improve there site without complaining.
There's an old addage: What happens when we "assume" something?

Now, let's think about this in a different manner. You are standing by the curb with another individual. You stand there with that person day after day after day as you wait for the bus. Each day, for one reason or another, a car comes by and splashes mud all over your work clothes. Day after day after day...no matter where you stand, your clothes get dirty. Next to you there is another someone. Never has he or she gotten splashed and dirty. That someone always gives you "helpful" advice..."stand over here"..."stand over there"..."stand where I stand". But...day after day after day after day you get splashed, even with all of his or her good advice. And, to add insult to injury...as you look down at your dirty clothes this person whistles a happy tune and says: "I just don't know what you're doing wrong. I don't get splashed."

Now, for a variety of reasons, some good and some bad, you still keep taking the same bus. You keep hoping that you will have the good fortune of the happy person. So far, you are still getting dirty and splashed but you hope...you try...you keep putting one foot in front of the other. You need that bus. And...your happy friend keeps whistling away with a smile and a sweetness that just boggles your mind while you are suffering; because he or she says that the secret to not getting dirty and wet is known by him or her and a multitude of others. They talk about your plight and their good fortune each day afer work. It is left at that. No further comment, just left at that...the secret to the clean clothes is not shared.

Umm... no, they don't pay us. No offense, but that makes absolutely no sense.

There is a net profit in Auctiva's favor when we pay for the insurance policies that they provide. It all comes down to who's in the black at the end of the transaction.

Maybe you should move on to a different bus stop.

While I question Donna's ever-cheery attitude about everything, I'd never be so distasteful as to do what you did. She's an all around nice and helpful person, and, as far as I can remember (and I've read her posts from as far back as the SpareDollar days), she's never said a disrespectul thing to another poster.

You came into a thread that she started, and voiced your (unasked for) opinion about something that didn't even have anything to do with the thread topic. Completely uncalled for.

Don't you think that others are having similar problems with Auctiva as you are? Just because we don't choose to jump in on the mob mentality and make dozens of useless threads about the same thing, doesn't mean that you should jump on those who like to keep a positive attitude about things.
You didn't get the point of the post.

My point is that most of the folks on the boards are experiencing horrible problems listing. Another member states "no problem at all" and also states "I and others I have talked with off the boards have a great experience listing" but the comment goes no further. No sharing of the "tools". Just a statement. More like: "Gee, I know how to get the stick out of my eye. I had one just like yours bothering me a lot and I couldn't see". And then all you see is a back walking away."

It's very easy to be nice when you have all of the answers and keep them to yourself. It makes one feel above others and often smug to the point of a sing-song attitude.

This will be my last post because I just don't find that this forum has the foresight or the empathic ability to see the phychological dynamic taking place.

Excuse me? It isn't often that I begin a thread. I do contribute and a majority of my contributions are along the vein of suggesting that the writer contact Auctiva with a help ticket. Now, how in the world can that be construed as "not nice".

Go back. Do a search of my postings. Read all of them. Several have suggested that we do all we can to help Auctiva. I have suggested the Jeff and the others have a tough job, especially when the site is having problems. I have suggested that we clean out our files. Get rid of old photos that we no longer use. Contact them about troubles. Read them all.

I just became frustrated when oodles of other folks were having problems, very severe problems, and a forum contribution was made along the lines of "I know the solution because it works for me and my friends" with no other comment. Not the solution, just the statement that one may exist. That, to me, is unkind. Did you know that when I did get through to Auctiva and was able to list I felt a little bit guilty because others were still feeling a great deal of anguish? I wished I could do something for them or give them a little hint to help them along?

I am the kind of person who will give away my last dollar to someone who may need it more than I. I will give away each and every little tip I have about a problem or life issue just to make that person's day brighter and more hopeful. Being stingy is not one of my personal attributes. I share my car, my home, my food, my ideas, and my little "insider" hints with everyone I meet or touch during any day, week, month or year knowing that I have "payed it forward". That is my personal philosophy. Not just here on the boards but in life.

Others may believe that I was being bitter. In truth, I was so darned sad and frustrated that it was suggested there were little insider hints to make things work well but they weren't offered or shared other than what we've been told by Auctiva, itself.

She NEVER suggested that there were "insider hints" on how to make Auctiva work - she only said that she and some others haven't been having problems. Your constant accusations about her are getting a bit annoying, at least to me. You have no facts, just suppositions and hypotheses.

And just so that you don't misinterpret THIS post, yes I am one of the many people who HAVE been having lots of problems with Auctiva, and I have been posting on the boards about those problems. I just don't like to see anyone falsely accused.
