I'm brand new at this so I'm hoping someone out there will indulge some very basic questions.I'm ready to open a store. What is the difference between an Auctiva store and an Ebay store? Same fees? Should a guy have one of each? And is there a place on the Auctiva site that explains the store concept in detail that I'm just not sharp enough to find.I thank you in advance,Kragskov.

Hi Kragskov,

The Auctiva store and the eBay store are completely separate store fronts. Your Auctiva store is a collection of all your active listings(auctions, fixed price, and store), that can be reached by clicking the "Click here to browse all my eBay items" link on the bottom right of the store window.

An eBay store is still needed if you wish to list eBay store items and take advantage of the longer durations and smaller listing fees.

The Auctiva store format cannot be applied to your eBay store.

I hope this clears things up=)

Hello Kragskov and Mike, I would like to ask where does the Auctiva storefront get published or added to search engines if it is? I think I'm still a little confused about this. Is it stored on the Auctiva server? I do understand and have utilized the scrolling 'showcase' store in my listings, but am not quite sure I see the big picture, so to speak, concerning the Auctiva Storefront that you are discussing.

Hello everyone Smile

I'm not an expert, but I wanted to try and lend a hand.

The Auctiva "storefront" is kind of a misnomer - it is just another place your current auctions are gathered (like the scrolling store window) except that in the storefront you can tidy it up a little and make categories...like eBay stores without the $15 fee. (I can get to my store by clicking the store window I have in my auctions, but I worked on my storefront first and put promotional text in the bottom of my store window...since that text is what I click to get to my storefront, you may have to do that first.)

What it is is sort of a full-page version of our scrolling store windows that eBay browsers can click on to see all our stuff on one page. You can customize your store if you go to the tabs on the top of this screen -

Store Tab > Store Settings > (choose either style, I happen to like 1 > this will bring you to a screen where everything is pretty well explained for you.

As far as I know, what you list via Auctiva, which all ends up in your storefront if I'm not mistaken - so it's the same thing - is NOT submitted to search engines. You can do this manually, I believe some sellers like to do this, on www.googlebase.com

Also, if you have an eBay store ($15 fee - ouch!) you can submit your listings to search engines (it's the least they can do! Sheesh!)

Yeah. Basically the Auctiva "store" is there if you choose to make use of it. Like the Store Window, everything there links back to eBay. So for those who don't have an eBay store then maybe it's something that looks a little nicer than a search page at eBay.

That said, I haven't made use of it myself...

Another thing, though, is that Auctiva has plans to eventually add real, non-eBay, non-auction storefronts. That's when I'll really start paying attention to them myself.
Hi All,

Foxfyre33 is 100% correct. Your Auctiva "Store" is simply a great way to show all your items on eBay without having to pay for an eBay Store. We do not submitting your stores to search engines but you most certainly may. Inside the Store Window there is a link, "Click here to browse all my eBay items!", that customers may click that will bring up another page that displays your store (I highly recommend that you go to your store and customize it to your liking).
