I for one am glad that eBay's attempt to limit payment options by buyers was blocked. First they limit one market then another and another until they control both the selling and buying and profit on both ends. It is bad enough that eBay charges listing fees and final value fees along with the processing fees when a buyer pays with PayPal, which can total more than 15 percent of the selling price by the time you pay the eBay fees on the closing price plus PayPals fees on the total amount processed. Buyers should not be limited to a single method of payment and sellers should not be forced to being able to only accept one form of payment, where the same company profits on all sides of the transaction.
Ebays intentions are to have a complete monopoly of online auctions and methods of paying. They don't give a hoot about what the sellers or the buyers want or need. They only care about thier own profits. I certainly hope that the U.S. will follow suit!!
I just think its really really unfair. Im a single mum and am trying to make a little bit extra. But with all the fee's adding up with Paypal and ebay combined I dont seem to be getting anywhere. Whats the harm in having your payment direct deposited into your own bank account. Why couldnt they just leave it the way it was. I just think ebay is trying to make extra money. I have never had a problem direct depositing the money into users accounts. I have always recieved my goods. You just have to be vigilant and check peoples feedback and history and there usually isnt a problem with security and safety. Why fix whats not broken. Thanks.
