In other words, I want the option to decide when & if I relist an item. I want to decide after the auction ends but I don't want to have to reenter everything. Is there an easy way to do this?

If you go to the listings tab, then into closed listings, you list a list of all auctions that finished.
Here you can go down the list and put a check in the box beside all the items you want to relist, and click on relist. This will relist the exact same auction again.
