Hi, I'm pretty new to Auctiva and was wondering if Auctiva downsized images uploaded onto it for auction listings. If not would it be a good idea to downsize images before uploading them to Auctiva?

Also does it take longer for pages of listings to load when potential buyers look at them the more photos you have?

Thanks

Hi Octiva, If you mean downsizing as in Kilobytes(file Size) the answer is no, auctiva does not automatically downsize your pictures. There are alot of picture file resizing tools on the net..I use a program called Pixresizer to reduce mine.
In answer to your second question, the answer is yes. The more things you have on your listing the longer it will take to load, even if its just seconds. Downsizing your pic file sizes will definately make a big difference in uploading your pictures to auctiva and loadtime on your listings. Hope this helps you, take care, william
Thank you! This answers a lot of questions and helps out a bunch. It seems in the auction world seconds are bids! And the more time it takes to download the more you loose! Pictures too however seem to create bids, and the more you have of those the more you get. So this is a very helpful piece of information. Now to get down to downsizing...Smile

Thanks!
I was under the impression the Auctiva DID re-size the images so that they are optimised for online viewing:

"Auctiva automatically resizes images for best online viewing. Listing images are shown at 400x300 and include a 'click to supersize' link to your original image"
I am misunderstanding this statement? If so I have a lot of work to do!

Thanks!
I think that may be talking about the supersize feature itself. So it "resizes images" to what you see in the final listing. I think it's talking about the smaller images that you then click to see the supersized images.

In other words, I don't think Auctiva messes with the actual images but provides you with "thumbnails" that load more quickly. The customer can then supersize the thumbnail to see the exact image you uploaded to Auctiva.
