Hi Gang,
I have more than a few buyers (about 2-5%) that are leery about using the Auctiva checkout system. Some think it might be some sort of scam or something.
I know there's nothing wrong with the Auctiva checkout system per se.
But, If I choose to turn off the Auctiva checkout...Does anyone know of any drawbacks from doing such a thing?
Thanks, Mike bs420luv

i just had this happen the first time last week. user said that Firefox wouldn't let him use A checkout. If he used IE, which would let him, he'd have to run security checks for 2 hours. I had never heard of this before.
I've used both ebay checkout and auctiva. not sure what the benefits to either one are.

curious to see what others say.
Hi,

I turned it off 3 years ago. Since eBay has stated they intend to turn-off 3rd party checkout, it probably makes sense to move to eBay checkout anyway. They made that statement last year, and the only slow-down is the 3rd party systems did things they couldn't. Now that Propay is onboard, they'll probably give a date for cutover soon.

The big draw for using Auctiva checkout is/was the Merchant Account capability.

If you turn it off, it doesn't affect active listings, only new listings. That might cause a problem with any combined situations for checkouts with listings in both systems.

I've never used Auctiva's checkout...long before I was a seller, there were always problems with combined shipping whenever I had to check out as a buyer using Auctiva. I myself find it much easier to manage my sales through Ebay, only because I'm used to doing it that way.

As for the comment in the original post here, I have seen sellers that will enclose something like this in their auction listings to make their buyers feel more at ease:

"Please checkout through Auctiva...it will take you to Paypal where you can pay as you normally would" Or some similar sentence.
Hi again Gang,
I turned off my Auctiva checkout system on or about 2-18-09 and I thought things were running pretty good...
But tonight someone said they were having a problem with Auctiva checkout not loading...
Darn it! I turned it off.
I went to my accounts settings for the checkout system and Auctiva was my preferred method again.
How can this happen...can it turn itself back on?
Apparently so!
I just turned it off again and will check it again tomorrow and everyday there after.
Very confused at this point.

If you have Auctiva Checkout turned on, your buyers will be directed there whether you send invoices or not.
