I can't figure out how to cancelled my GTC listings to a fixed time period. Error message says I can't do it since its listed in my Ebay store. And of course if I just end my listing early then it automatically relists.

You should be able to end a GTC listing manually without having the GTC portion of the listing cause it to relist. Such listings should run until the inventory for them runs out or they are ended manually. If you have some form of Auto Relist profile associated with the listing, you would need to disable that prior to ending the listing.
If you are having difficulties with a specific listing, please file a support case from the Help tab of your account letting us know which listing and the full text of the error message you refer to so we can look into it for you.
