is there any way to change a template on an active listing

Yes, but you have to do it from ebay. Making changes on Auctiva will not affect an active listing

Go to your saved listing, change the template and then save it again. Then use the GET HTML button. Copy it and go to ebay and revise your listing - replace the current HTML with the one you just copied by pasting it over the entire description box. and submit revision.
