I'm not aware of any technical problems that would account for the behavior you have both reported so I'm not sure what might be causing this. I did try pasting copying a few different descriptions and pasting the content into the description editor within a new Item Details profile but could not reproduce the problem.
There is a known compatibility issue between the old version of our description editor and Internet Explorer 9.0 that is causing the "Paste" buttons on the description editor toolbar to not function properly, but we are likely going to be phasing out the old description editor in the not too distant future.
If you are encountering that specific problem, you should be able to work around it by adjusting your account to use the new version of our description editor. This can be done by mousing over the "My Account" tab, selecting the "Acct Preferences" option under "Settings" checking the box next to "Use Design Editor 2.0", and then clicking the "Update Account Preferences" button below.
