I just tried reproducing the behavior you described but, when I cropped my image, the cropped version of the image was visible in the image editing interface and on the Manage Images page as soon as I saved the changes. This sounds like it is probably due to a caching issue so the first thing I recommend trying that may resolve this for you is clearing your cache and restoring your default browser settings.
