Question/Suggestion about when Auctiva is
"updating our website and database to add new features and fix bugs. This process takes approximately 4 hours every Thursday night starting around 10:30PM PST(-8 GMT)"

What happen to that RED warrning banner that once displayed and flashed for a few hours on Thursdays prior to Auctiva doing their website updates, that helped give fair warning to so you can stop working and SAVE your work?
So like what just happen to me (again) does not continue.
I get so wraped up into writing my listings, I forget about the every Thursday maintance. I finish writing, go to set a time to launch, Only to find.
All my work is gone. Not even saved. Like I said, I get so wraped up into working, I can not get myself to remember this every Thursday. Because I do not really care to admite just how many times I lost auctions I wrote because of this.

You'd think I would learn.
I know it has been quite a while when I last saw that Red warning banner. Why did auctiva stop useing it?
I am asking Auctiva to please start useing it once again..
Come on, You people flashed that banner all weekend about those games being placed in listings. All I ask is every Thursday, a hour or two prior to your weekley web site updates, Flash that RED banner as a reminder to people so they can save their work..Come on,,PLEASE..

One step further, Does it have to be Thursday? Worse yet does it have to be at night?
I am trying to slam out some listings so they will launch Fri night for exposure over the weekend and use 10 day for high end items and catch 2 weekends. But I am owrking away and POOF, everything is gone. Most annoying. Wouldn't a time like Monday at midnight be better suited to the customers? US?

AARGH why does everyone have to whine? You know when this happens and it does not change! No matter what with Auctiva having WORLDWIDE coverage it will hurt someone that is ill planned!Look at the UK and Australia. Do you see them on here whining? NO! Quit whining and enjoy the best free service out here. As for Thursday night maintenance my GF loves it! Go have a beer and shoot some pool! Make your plans around the maintenance. BOO HOO I can't list on Thursday night. WAAAAAAAAA can't you do it some other time you SLUGS! 4 hours out of a 168 hour week is nothing! WAAWAAAAAWAAWAAAAAAAAAA quit crying and get a life! I am tired of seeing the same G*D * D**N thing every Thursday night!Use the community boards for there intended purpose not useless crying!Auctiva support has addressed this issue countless times as Jeff said if you want to pay the same High FEES as FeeBay charges they can surely integrate a seamless maintenance procedure for a few HUNDRED grand. Cry babies go back to eBay and pay their high fees.As for a red banner are you too FRICKIN brain-dead to know, DUH it is Thursday night, and I should save my listings! As Mencia says DEE-DA-DEE

LOL......Yep i'm with Taz and ninth.
C'mon folks, we all have clocks.
Auctiva has been running better than ever (at least for me)..I think I can sacrifice a couple hours once a week so we can keep it that way

Golly Taz, I thought this was the suggestion board. You talk like I was personally attacking you for the timing of maintenance. Sorry but Yikes, this is a free country, take a chill pill. It was only a suggestion. Thanks to the Auctiva people for giving the readers their reason and doing it in a polite way. It is much appreciated and I guess I will learn to live with it and just schedule the listings for a week out. I am getting used to Auctiva but still miss SAB! Incidentally, that is not a whine, just a wishful memory!

Seriously though, aca, yes it is a pain, but as Taz says, it hurts us in the UK more - every Friday morning we can't do a thing, because this maintenance window starts at 0630 our time - so, we work around it. But, as I said in another post on this subject, Auctiva give us an amazing FREE service (as far as I am aware, NOBODY else does that), and they will never please all the people all the time throughout the world with their maintenance window - to do that they would need a globally distributed infrastructure, and that would cost money - a LOT of money.

Your best bet is to do your listing prep earlier in the week, and then use Auctiva's splendid FREE scheduler to kick them out at your desired time.

Exactly this is a free country and I freely gave my opinion. I have been on these boards for months and this is a regular thing EVERY Thursday. Maintenance and people with "Better Ways" to do it. No matter what someone somewhere will be inconvenienced. As for me hey I just do not list on Thursday nights. All my listing is done by 8:00 PM EST which is 5:00 PM Auctiva time a good 5 hours before maintenance.
ACA I may come across hard at times but if you stick around the boards you will find I am very helpful on here. I just get tired of reading the same redundant posts every Thursday night. I do feel Auctiva could do a better job with many things but I also KNOW it is the best D**N free service out there. I do not pull punches and have thrown a few jabs at Auctiva also so please don't think I am one-sided in this . I am actually a user from the old days when Auctiva was a download and I paid for it monthly in 2001 and 2002.
