still getting error message that reads:
:An error occurred getting custom item specifics recommendations from eBay. Please try again.
I know you can put in Name: Color Value: Pink but that does not tell customer's what the item is or who made by or age. I just tried doing that on a test listing and still you cannot add Custom Specifics which is what I want to do. ie: Maker Fenton Pattern Hobnail Glass Category: Milk White Product: Salt and Pepper Shakers etc.
Choose Item Specific Link is BLANK except for Detail Name: and Value:
I have had java issues for over a week now. With no relief in site. I have unistalled & reinstalled Java 6. cleared out browser of all history, cookies, etc. I get this dumb message when I go to upload photos, that I am using a old 1.6 version of Java and then either freezes me or takes for ever to get out of that window. Taking much too long to list a auction. This was a wonderful site, what happened ? Mike has been working with me, but we are getting no where. HELP
Thanks Queen, I did the download and I am now able to receive Custom Item Specifics on all my new Listings! The only challenge now is that when I attempt to create a similar listing utilizing a similar auction, All My Item Details have completely Disappeared... I now have to start them all from scratch.. Does this work properly for you???

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks again
Lois,

Did this problem start around Dec. 18th or a little later?

Have you tried with IE7, or just Firefox? IE7 would use the ActiveX verion of the uploader and other applets vs. Java Runtime Environment with Firefox. That would be a good test.

I have tested with Firefox 3.0.5 (latest) and Java Version 6 Update 11 (build 1.6.0_11-b03 also latest). I'm running WinXP-SP3 at current service, and haven't had any of the recently reported problems with the one-page or the image uploader.

I am aware that Microsoft rolled a IE (all version) update around December 18th, and it does have different install criteria for different versions and service pack levels of Windows (even a security fix for IE8 Beta). That date does seem to mark a point where alot of strange problems started. It does seem consistent with those now reporting update to Service Pack 3 has fixed Win-XP issues.

For those investigating, the update is KB960714 and here is the Knowledgebase article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960714

Have you installed the latest Vista Service Pack?

One thing, I tried accessing the custom item specifics first in MSIE and it wouldn't accept ANY input - that was why I used Opera.

Hi Bluedaemon23,

Which Operating System and Service (pack) level are you running? If it's Windows (any flavor), check your Windows Update "History" log by running Windows or Microsoft Update (just start it and look at left column for history) and see if you got that KB960714 IE Security Update installed.

Danno, sure can use your help. I unistalled and reinstalled this dang Java so many times. Just did it again from your link. Get done and same ole' freezes up with I try to upload. I did change over to IE 7 and try them, didn't freeze, but still getting this slow upload. YES, it did start a couple weeks ago. Mike has been helping me every since, having me send screen shots, we are getting no place. If I open the Java consol, it shows I have the latest version, but Auctiva shows I have old version of Java. Grrrrr
