Hi all, apologies in advance if this is old hat but new to Auctiva and love it...

I am trying to maintain conformity with mylistings and want to customise and existing template. All I wish to change is the logo on top of the page and replace it with my own image I created. So a) is it permissable and b) can somebody please explain in basic terms how to do it. The image Is already uploaded into my image folder if that helps.

Thank you in advance

Hi Baz,

Welcome to the Forum.

Can you post the template at the practiceboard or practicewriter and provide a link to the image you're trying to integrate on the template. If it's an Auctiva template you don't need to post it, but which one / name is it?

In general, you use an HTML [IMG] tag to integrate an image on a page, but it might require additional elements depending upon the page/template used.

Baz,

Here's what I did.

The old banner was a background that was partial width at the top. I substituted your 1024 width banner as background and set the page width of the template to 1024 for effect. I also replaced the blue strip at page bottom with black to match top.

I would suggest changing the image from background to a real image, so you can set the height and width, so page width can be set 100% and the banner reduced to more like 800px width. Make sense?

Edit: And, here's that version with banner set 850px width.

You can now use the banner width as the element width to dictate page width for the template.

Are you an eBay Store and have the Store Categories at left on the listing page? If so, I'd set the width to 800px. That width should accomodate the 1024x768 monitors with the Cat box and not have a scrollbar at page bottom.

Hi Baz,

It's no problem.... Smile

Just copy and paste the HTML code from that window at practicewriter to Auctiva's template builder. Use the "Create your own Template" link on the Custom Template section of the Listing tab page. Give it a template name at the top and use the Save and Preview button at bottom. You then select the Template in the "Custom" group (upper left) on the one-page lister's popup template selector.

Hope all that makes sense.

Baz,

Interesting you mentioned the background, as I gave it a look already. It's a d3d1d1 color, which is a redish-gray. I tried to use a gif widget to remove the background color and leave the ghost images, but it just didn't do a complete job of it. It also has a quit large repeat as it's a 610px x 415px size. It could be cut-down to help.

Edit: Would you prefer I remove that background and replace with a brighter neutral or blueish-grey?

Hi,

It looks OK. It's whatever works with your added pics, etc. and "theme". I looked because of the reddish coloration against the bold black of the banner. Just wanted to see if there were any options available, other than replace the background.

If you'd like me to try a color and throw it on the practiceboard, just give me a color code or a page link with a color on the page you like. My widget tool can get the color code.

Baz,

Two possibilities seem most doable:

1. Use that background, but have it repeat only vertically, i.e remove that right partial and use that background color as fill.

2. The other is to completely replace background and the ghosts with a solid (#e6e6e6 for test):

Edit: Here's a little darker gray with a blue added (#c5c5ca).
