Hi- ebay now has the bulk tool for revising listings for clothing, shoes, etc., (the mass area they are making changes in that are REQUIRED we make). I notice we can change category number and fix ITEM SPECIFICS in ebay. Obviously, fixing in ebay in bulk is huge time saver (even though still a pain)

Auctiva, is there going to be a tool on auctiva so we can fix our saved listings? It is such hassle to go in and fix them one by one, and huge time consumer.

After reviewing ebays it is much easier but would have to do again with each relist unless auctiva has this capability.

Please let us know if we can expect this soon, as this is a HUGE change and obviously effects MANY, MANY sellers. I know some update at last minute (which has now been moved to July) but having learned from experience would like to do this soon.

Thanks

Dear Vickie,

Thanks for posting your question here. We do not have any imminent plans to create a feature that would allow sellers to update the Item Specifics area in saved listings in bulk, but I have passed your comments in that regard to our developers as a suggestion for future consideration.

If you need any further assistance with your account, please feel free to contact our customer support team by mousing over the "Help" tab within your account and select the "File Support Case" option.

Dear Vickie,

There are a couple different ways to go about handling this transition and either of the approaches you mentioned below would work. I'm not really in a position to endorse either one as the *preferred* approach.

If you decide to revise all your active eBay listings to include this soon to be required Item Specifics information, you wouldn't necessarily have to go right into your Auctiva account and revise all your saved listings though unless some specific aspect of your listing strategy requires it.

As an alternative, you could just check your saved listings to make sure they have this required information as you reuse them to post new listings and add it to any saved listings that do not contain that information at that time.

If you attempt to post any saved listings to eBay that do not contain this information after July 20th, those listings should be rejected so it should not be possible to post listings within the required information without realizing it.

Thanks for response, I am not sure there is an easy way to do this without the tool, as when you click into saved Auctiva listing it will not let you relist item, it says Category change, and when you put in new number ALL of your Custom Specifics are GONE! Ebay lets you change only what is needed in a couple of quick steps.

IF we revise in ebay and fix listing with their new revision tool (which is great compared to going in one by one) and then relist through auctiva (which I recently started doing every 30 days) then we have to re-revise in ebay which seems like dog chasing his tail. Unless I am missing something?

Unfortunately, about 96% of my listings will have to be changed, I know that without looking because they changed the word Misses to REGULAR which will flip them all out and in auctiva it deletes all of the saved information in items specifics (in ebay it you can just go and change that and throw in size) That is why the tool like ebay has would be helpful to anyone who has to make changes. IF we had tool like ebays for this we fix our SAVED LISTINGS, then when ebay listing ends we are able to fix just a couple of small areas rather than entire item specific area.

Right now auctiva system will not let me relist without the proper information being updated, even though it is not July. I am sure when July nears people are going to start asking about this tool, as most wait until last days to fix these things.

Without the tool this will take days and days and days with the tool like ebays this could be done if I tried on 1,0000 listings in probably a day.
Thanks.

Vickie
Hi- am on a roll tidying up today it seems and realizing how many questions I have out there.

Any chance of getting the tool similar to ebays for this. I am sure people will go into panic mode in July when this HAS to be done and all of their listings are done. They will then realize how easy this is on ebay system and how difficult auctiva system will be doing one by one.

Also, looks like I should be able to continue listing as I have through auctiva until July, but auctiva system will not let us we have to go ahead and change one by one. I had rather find out what sells and then change non-sales in July.

Would love a response, so we can plan.

Thanks

Vickie
My understanding is that it will NOT be in saved listings in auctiva. (I usually relist from saved, others may do differently). I guess it should, I do not know for sure) but should convert in the closed listings if you relist from there???

My understanding is IF you use the ebay tools and you continue to relist through ebay you will be set. HOWEVER, IF you say list for 30 days OR do good till cancelled and then decide to end and relist through auctiva saved listings, Your listing changes will be gone. You will then have to go into each listing in auctiva and re-do custom specifics for each blank in that field that is required. Even IF you previously had some filled in they drop.

Other solution that I know of is:

End each listing in ebay, Go through each and every listing in auctiva, totally re-input the custom specifics (it does NOT save one you already put in once you change to from say
Misses to Regular or Petite, Womans, etc.)

Ebay system takes much, much less time, it is hassle than going in and physically changing each and every listing.

I do not think people will change theirs until closer to July (I started and realized pain in rear so stopped figuring I will wait and see what sells) At that time I will also reevaluate IF I am going to just change to new system entirely since I am basically having to re-do so much anyway.

With the ebay tool you will spend numerous hours and hours re-doing, without the tool you will spend MANY, MANY days doing this boring task.

I think this will be like other ebay changes, noone really gets concerned until right before their listings will no longer relist and then people will be where is the tool, assuming it is here.

Auctiva, if I am mis-understanding this please let us know.

Thanks

I changed some of my listings directly in Ebay. It was, of course the Item Specifics that I updated with all required information.

I go to relist in Auctiva and none of the changes made in ebay are saved to Auctiva and furthermore I have to change them in Auctiva in order to relist.

It is painstaking having to redo each listing one by one. There is no point to using ebay's tools when auctiva has its own requirements.

I know this is an ebay mandate but I just wish that Auctiva as our service provider could have made this transition easier or more transparent.

Back to revisions...
Hi,

Itsjustme. . here we go again itsjustme and you. (until July when reality sets in to others if there is anyone left on the ebay side that lists clothing, shoes, purses, etc.) what a time waster this is.

However, THIS is exactly what I previously mentioned. Without a revision tool like ebays this is a very time consuming task. . and I do mean very! Ebay bulk tool makes this pretty much easy (pain in rear but easier by a long shot)

We SHOULD be able to go to the saved listing and be able to bulk edit just like ebay system and then when we relist those, it should be on ebay and permanently saved. It is not like they are inventing the wheel, ebay has done that already, OR at minimum have it save what we already have and fill in the rest of items needed, instead it totally erases all specifics so we have to start totally over,

We really need this tool. If this tool is not going to be available for me me is writing on the wall that the ebay side of things is going to the dogs, that auctiva is not going to update ebay changes and this problem will continue as other changes are made. This is huge undertaking and auctiva should be ready to step up to the plate for its customers, as this was announced and ebay has had tool for awhile now.

I also feel this subject is just about ignored, as are other things on the ebay side besides minor things that most of us could answer because they are mostly how to do something questions. If auctiva can not/will not keep up with ebay then they need to let us know so we can start preparing for this change. Of course, part of my frustration is because they have previously announced ebay changes and after MANY MANY months of waiting and stringing us along we were told it was not going to happen!!! This in addition to lack of keeping up with ebay changes in the bulk tool as well as the sizing issue has sure made me nervous and anxious and concerned about he future of auctiva. The go around fixes that we feel like dog chasing our tail are not acceptable fixes, we should not have to do extra steps to do everything involving ebay.

That being said, for those who are commerce, we DO fully realize that that side needs changes and updates also. This is NO way intended to minimize that.

Auctiva, Please let us know if there is anyway to get this tool.

If enough ask for it perhaps they will listen to the customers who are requesting something that we should not have to beg for.

Vickie--I don't want to go to saved listings to do the edits. I want to be able to do it out of closed listings. The problem with saved listings is that when an item sells it does not get deleted from saved listings. So a person could be revising lots of useless items (maybe i am missing the point?)

All I know is that this process is so long and time consuming. Ebay's process is better but its useless if the changes are lost when the listing expires and we use Auctiva to renew.

As far as I am concerned, the changes are already in effect. Starting this past week I had so many API errors because the item specific changes are being enforced now.

So I spend my entire day updating 50 to 75 listings.

Didn't we hear somewhere that custom item specifics will be the only choice in a matter of time...the other specifics are going away?
You know.. we must think same way somewhat. I was thinking that I may be better off reposting from closed rather than saved listings. I usually just go to saved but am sure going to try to change my habit if I continue with this method of listing.

I would not care if it were closed or saved either would be HUGE HELP!

I decided to can it until July and see what sells in meantime, and then do if I stay with this system. $9.95 is not much to pay, HOWEVER, if they can't keep up with changes we are actually paying much more in $$$$ because of time wasted updating. This $9.95 plan is closing us hundreds this month if you count our time.

Auctiva, are you going to be able to keep up with ebay changes, as this is HUGE or is this going to be a continual problem? Have seen NO ebay updates in FOREVER!!!!!! but do notice lots of posts for go arounds which are not solution to issue, they are a bandaid.

Seems I did hear custom is way to go!

Thanks for a response.
Vickie--have you checked your event log to make sure your items are listing.

everyone of my listings had an api rejection and wouldn't list unless the custom item changes were made. this has been the case since early last week.

even newer listings that aren't under the "color/shade" format get rejected. The system won't accept the old "misses" for size type...must be regular or petite or whatever.
Hi- I have not, actually have not been relisting or new listings for about week and half.

My mother got real sick in another state, so put store on vacation and am with her.

I am hoping to do some relists soon, may even try a couple tomorrow or Tuesday and see what happens.

This change is a pain, and not having tools makes it really harder. Hopefully they will get this fixed. . like soon!

Vickie
I am going to have to "borrow" that expression..PITA describes this perfectly.

glad to hear about your mom. my mom was in a rehab this year and my only complaint is that we didnt push for more occupational and phys therapy. it should be done daily and through the weekends. my mom is completely fine but her recovery would have been speedier with more therapy.
It is PITA for sure, and not having ANY tool to do this with is really, really major PITA. I actually am now waiting until July to see what sells (being out of town not much). Thinking of running a sale last week to see what can go before I re-start doing this.

I am really concerned that auctiva is not keeping up with the changes in ebay though and seems quite unconcerned with any changes or fixes besides go arounds. . .which are not solutions they are bandaids.

I have been little concerned about rehab and her going back to comfy habits of leaning on walker, etc. She is a fighter so hopefully she will get there. It is very hard to leave them in a home when most of their mother, and most sisters and brothers have died in them. But she is where she needs to be to get the help she needs (plus food bought in, am afraid she will begin to like the service - ha).

Later..
Vickie

Oh use PITA my rock self could not figure out what it was when I first saw it. .
