Hi everybody ! I just wanted to know if I have to have an Ebay store open while I am using an Auctiva store. Can I use only an Auctiva Store and not using my Ebay store in the meantime...in fact, I found that Ebay is beginning to be a little bit expensive and as a new seller, this is an issue for me. So I was wondered about keeping my Auctiva Store open but not my Ebay store. Furthermore, if I close my Ebay store NOW will I be able to post my selling on Auctiva ? Will it appear on the site ? I look for this answer on the postings but did not found it. Thanks for your help! By the way, I can't wait to January 20th when Auctiva Commerce will be available ! Freedom !

Hi,

I think the decision to maintain an eBay Store is dependent on your use of eBay and not how you want to necessarily operate off eBay with a Commerce Store.

Example: You might want to Stock certain items in your eBay store that operate in that venue for clearance, discounts, and promotions, but keep a more standard Retail inventory in the Commerce store with a link back to eBay for the clearance, discounts, promotions. That's how I've seen many web retailers operate for years with eBay. I've often started buying from a retailer on eBay and then moved to direct purchase from their website, often with combined shipping discount. I'd message them and ask for combined (if they didn't have a combined checkout system). If eBay doesn't like it, TOO BAD, SO SAD! Big Grin If folks like what you sell, they'll track you down. That's were a registered internet address helps.

Just have your methods thought-out before you take the step.

Concept for vintage clothing sellers: Sell the vintage clothing on eBay and stock a Commerce Store with Retail Clothing or "Accessories". That discussion is one I am having with group I currently support.

I have found maintaining the auctiva store is way more tricky. Only 10 catergories are visable. Your key words are limited and also if you use a keyword that is found in other words, like the key word Men, all your women items are in the catergoy too. I have a hard time getting all my items to show up because of those key word issues. I focus on my eBay store and just occasionally update auctiva. I did pay $10 for a domain name for my auctiva store, which I use on buisness cards that I include in my packages that I ship out. I also place adds in my local paper for bigger items I dont want to ship, so I include the web address there also. I view the auctiva store as a gate way to get them to my eBay store, which is way more professional looking, and more customizable than auctiva's.
