Wow, I too have felt the slow sales and lower auction final sales amounts... My auctions have ended much lower than anticipated compared to past sales for the same merchandise. And, it's getting harder to gauge what to start auctions off at. I'm all over the place. I tried doing the ultra-low start price to generate bids but that back fired on several auctions. Then I started alot of auctions at the price I wanted to get only to see them end with no bidders.
Now I'm somewhere in the middle and we'll see how things go since it's after Labor day. My fingers are crossed!
What has happened to all the buyers? or did they all become sellers? that would explain the slower than normal sales.
The stats flucuate daily but so do the auction sites. I would watch this for a week and compare daily stats before figuring out where the buyers/sellers went.
Alot of eBay sellers have flighted from eBay due to the new rate increase. Striking out independently to their own sites or other sites.

That's a nifty chart! Thanks D
My sales that ended on Sunday were VERY disappointing, to say the least. I just cancelled 3 more auctions because I'm not going to lose more $$.
Even Amazon is dead. I don't recall this time of year being so bad. I thought sales generally picked back up about now?
I'm strongly considering opening an ecrater store. I had one last year, but closed it due to lack of sales.
Is it just me or is anyone else still having little to no sales volume?

My ecraters are selling. My website (which is tied to my ecraters is working) My Overstock auctions partially sold but no luck on the Yahoo auctions. Blujay is working but Bidville isn't bringing me any sales. WP...not there.
I'm uploading auctions this week. I temporarially put up my halloween costumes and didn't get any buyers..so I'm going to wait. This time in previous years, Halloween costumes would've sold and for good $$$.
Different times my friend for selling.
Peace,
Donna
Just putting in my 2 "non-cents" worth. My Sales were really good during the last 2 weeks of August and then stopped. I was useing Ad Words tho, and put up a couple of "featured items". Maybe that is the key. Also, it was about the time that EBay offered the conversion from store to auction. Even tho, I knew it would cost more when I relisted in my store. Can't help but think it is the store search in EBay that had the effect. Still not experience enough to know. Blessings,
D,
Are you using BIN's or regular auction format for your costumes?

I used BIN.
I like having them up and first come, first serve with a BIN.
I just have to think eBay's running late or buyers aren't in their usual mode of finding IT yet.
Dear Princess Donna, I hurried to get my Halloween items up to and have had nary a nibble. Tried both BIN and Auction, did not seem to make any difference. Few lookers is all. Maybe people are just like me, wondering, What Happened to Summer!!!. Maybe they will be in the mood soon.
Yep.
Magie..I picked one of those up 3 years ago for .50.
Sold it for close to 350.00. All the bids came in the last 15 minutes.
Those are well worth what you pay for them at any thrift store. Even if their in the "boutique" section of the thrift. I. E., meaning paying $5.00. <smile>

It's from the 70's EVERYTHING was ugly...
That's not my dress (I wish). That's a seller on my favorite sellers list. Vintage, some is beautiful and some isn't. Over $500, go figure.
Good for her. Cool!

My sales are down, but I have been selling most of my items from my store. Even though ebay took a bite out of my profits, I'm still making money from my store. The start of school makes a bit of a difference in sales, but the big thing is the economy. With gas prices coming down, it should get a litter better, but it does take a while to bounce back.
you should buy my ebook 101 auction tips revealed. its got some great pro tips details are in the sell your item section. its only a penny so it wont skint you.
I don't know, I think I'd be doing better if you bought something from me...
Good comment Rick!
Thumbs up!

I have just come back to online auction sales after a year break and it is nothing like it used to be from what I am seeing so far. I used to make decent money on auctions.
The ones I have listed now would have had bids already, but nothing. I wonder why so much less shopping is going on. I thought this time of year would be good to come back, and not too mention I HAD to come back, some way to catch up after Hubbys lay off...

Welcome Princess Kim, I think there have been a lot of changes in the EBay search since last year, slowed everyone down. Also, I had a down time at the first of the year and it was like starting over again. I won't let that happen again. Keeping your momenten is critical. You know how fickle people can be. If you drop out of sight, they go elswhere. Good Luck and Welcome back. Fairy Odd Mother @ Once Upon A Find
I don't believe it is because you have dropped out of sight...my sales are MUCH slower since a few months back (around the EBAY store fee change) and hasn't picked up much since the summer ended. I have had my store for 2 years & I definately see a different change in sales (drop)for the worse since EBAY changed the store fees & the search features.
I wish I could be the ray of sunshine to your black cloud, but ditto to what dvchic said. Sales on ebay are horrible.
Yep, everybody said just wait until school starts again! But it looks like that couldn't be counted on this year as well as in the past.
Now I'm just hoping things pick up within a few weeks because of the holidays. We shall see..

My sales were okay then I didn't list for awhile and when I did they were bad...~15% sold and I start my listings at 99 cents..average before was ~85% > $16.00....after 4 listings it is getting back to where they used to be...I post between 15 to 20 items in each listing....Hope it picks up between now and the end of the year....Happy Holidays..
