So after wrestling all weekend with learning Auctiva, getting my listings created and edited, and finally submitting them to eBay yesterday, nothing happened. No listings even though I got confirmation emails from eBay that they had gone through.

OK, so I found the forum then and saw that eBay indexing takes some time...I told myself to be patient. 12 hours passed. Nothing. Finally got an email from eBay stating that all my listings were rejected because I had used the phrase, "Send cash at your own risk." I meant this in a discouraging way and I have seen it on many other eBay listings, but eBay said it was soliciting.

My gripe with Auctiva at this point is that I did an "error check" on every single listing and it did not flag this issue at all. Might have been nice to know this would not pass eBay muster before I bothered to submit listings.

Lends credence to the phrase "If anything sounds too good to be true, it probably is!" Since this service/software is free, I guess you get what you pay for...

Just wanted to warn other newbies that you may go through hours and hours of work for nothing. Don't trust the Auctiva error check. Frown

Cameo, while I understand your frustration at eBay pulling all your listings that you spent ages creating, I think it's a little unfair to lay this at Auctiva's door - it's eBay that did it, not Auctiva.

Auctiva's error check is supposed to show you any problems which will instantly cause your listing to fail on eBay, like not putting in a starting price, no category selected, etc. There's no way that Auctiva can gear themselves up to be able to second guess eBay's sometimes very odd decisions regarding some words and wording - I mean, come on, 'Send cash at your own risk' is soliciting? What planet are they on? Big Grin And I suspect that nowehere in eBay's Help pages, or listing rules, would you find that phrase defined as being disallowed.

But all is not lost - your listings still exist in Auctiva, so all you need to do is change that offending piece of text, and then resubmit them, it shouldn't be too onerous a task. I would suggest you do one first, make sure it goes through, and eBay don't throw a wobbler about anything else, and then submit the rest.
Thanks Pete. I was just letting off steam, it was frustrating after spending so much time learning the whole process only to have everything bounce back en masse at the end.

I intend to fix things and try again, but I was aiming for the 7-day auction to end on a Sunday evening as everyone seems to advise, and so it seems I've lost a week in just waiting for that narrow window to roll around again.

But you're right, I shouldn't blame Auctiva for eBay's whims and foibles. Sorry about that folks Big Grin
Ah yes, a pain in the situpon regarding the Saturday finish. Why not take advantage of the free scheduling that Auctiva offers, and change your listing to start on Wednesday, using a 10 day listing? Or are you in the US, in which case the little beggars at eBay will charge you extra for 10 day listings? But still, you could do the legwork during the week, and schedule them to start next Saturday, and fire and forget Smile

Oh, and hey, no problem with the letting off steam, we're all here to help each other!
Ebay has been VERY strict recently.....to say 'cash at your own risk' is a big no-no and against policy (but c'mon, how many people would know that) so I think someone that saw that listing reported you. If the ebots had seen it, it wouldn't have gotten posted in the first place. You also can't say 'like new' anymore, and if you try to use it in a title it probably won't post. It's a shame you missed Sunday night, I know how that feels Frown
