how many other applications do you have going? and
what kind of connection do u have? cable dsl or dial up, with dsl especially, depending on how far from the hub you are, and how busy it it depends on your speed. altho i have cable with a 8mb upload, and if alot of people are online aat the same time it slows down a little, also could be the speed of your pc.
