Hi,

I know I am doing something wrong with my html image tag coding, (in a custom template) but I can not remember how to set the image code to create pictures in my template that ARE NOT clickable to a supersize picture.

Here is the coding I am curerntly using in templates that have 4 large 400px size pictures.

http://www.practiceboard.com/?2695938

I thought it was a SET picture, but I just discovered when looking through some of my ebay auctions, that this coding makes the template look as if it is a set picture, but is actully clickable.

Its no big deal really, but I would like to have the right code if someone knows it (Captain are you there ?) Smile

I tried saving the template (in the create/edit template) section as:

Choose image type = Original images (Images as they are, with no resizing or links to supersize.)

It did not work though. I also tried saving it as "original Images URL's. (Insert image URL only. User will be responsible for all HTML img tags.)

but that didn't work either. So it must be the code I'm using in the template.

Any ides what I'm doing wrong ? should there only be 1 image tag when you don't want the picture to be enlarged ??

any help would be most welcome. Thanks

Carol.

Smile

The Cap'n chooses to respectfully disagree. If she does that, it seems to me that any unused image slots will show up with a "X" marks the spot.

I admit, I haven't tried it yet, but I will and get back.

(Get back, to where I once belonged) err..The Captain has returned! And it is jest as I feared. You need those anchor statements in order to omit any image slots that don't get used. So don't remove yer <A href...> and </a> tags.

HELLO,

Well I played around with it, and now it looks a real mess. Frown

I have purple and blue borders around all of my pics and gifs.

Do you think it is possible to have a colored boarder around the main pics and take the boarders of the gifs ?

If it turns out to be to much hassel, I will just stick with it as it was before.

But if you want a challenge ? please feel free to sort this mess out....

my template with the image tag changes. Did I do it right?

Thanks for all your help.

Well, the problem with the blue gifs stems from a couple of missing angle-brackets.

The first one is where you have:
<img src="[IMAGE1_ORG]"</a> it should be:
<img src="[IMAGE1_ORG]"></a>
The next one is farther down:
<img src="[IMAGE7_ORG]"</a> needs to be:
<img src="[IMAGE_7ORG]"></a>

Now I'll get back to work on those other borders. You didn't want these to be clickable, did you?

Okay, I see what the deal is. I didn't explain good enough in one of my earlier post. You want to put the [IMAGEx_ORG] tag in just once per image. Secondly, you don't put any other HTML around them, i.e. no <a href...>, no <img src="...> in front, and no </a> behind. Not even any quotation marks. Just put the tag itself in, and Auctiva will take care of the rest.

Earlier, when I said leave the <a href...> tags in, I had forgotten what it was you were trying to do. That's where I messed you up. Dave's suggestion was on the right track. It just didn't go quite far enough, because without getting rid of your <a href>'s it would have given you pizza boxes instead of deleting the unused tags.

Did you check your Norton folder for my e-mails, BTW?

Time to chow down,

Hi Capt,

Enjoy your chow. Thanks a million for looking at this for me, the tags are working right now. Smile

I did read your post on the Norton issue, and I am still undecided about uninstalling it.

I have had no problems with it at all, other than not being able to see the html pop up window in the saved listing part of auctiva. (and I can live with that)

I guess I am nervous to start using some downloaded virus / bug clean program from the net, had some major probs in the past doing that
and had to toss the pc away in the end.

I did try McFEE and had more problems using that load of crapola than the adware and spyware that was on the old pc. Never again with mcfee !!

But so far, (fingers and toes crossed) The Norton 2005 suite is great. I have peace of mind. Ohhhh errrrr you know that something will go wrong with it now, I just know it...

what do reformed, retired pirate's eat ? Sid maybe ? squark !!!!

Hi Capt,

No, that wasn't what I talking about. Smile My e-mails to you wound up in your Norton Anti-Spam folder before, and I was wondering if you had looked in there for the e-mails I sent you yesterday and today.

Ello again,

Thought you were scoffing down Sid, feathers an all. Smile

You are a star ! thanks so much Tom.

Yes to everything !! I would love to be able to clean up the white bits, but have no idea how to ?

The pictures are left align in the practice link you sent me, can you center them for me ?

and err,,, hum de hum, while I'm asking ( my hubby always says I am never satisfied ) huh !

Is there any way you can move the bit that says
" Please View My Other Auctions" down about 1/2" to the pale green border on the bottom that is empty.

That boarder looks odd with nothing in it, and I don't know how to delete it ? so it would look better if there was something written inside it at least.

also can I have a jaguar for xmas ? lol

Thanks Tom,

talk to you soon,

Cas.

Got most of it done last night, but deleted it by mistake. Oh well. I'll do it now, as I have a date with a hospital from tomorrow through the weekend. Do you really take cash for your auctions, as the template states, or did you mean to say the figures are in U.S. Dollars?

CB
Is this kind of what you're looking for, Carol?: http://www.practiceboard.com/?2709768
I can work on it more after supper. I think you should go over your verbiage as alot of the very bottom stuff that you added could probably go into the bulleted part right above it.

I could do a little re-writing, (sans arrs and avasts) if you like and run it by you on a separate sheet. Gotta do it tonight though, 'cause I'm leaving at about 4 a.m. tomorrow.

"When the cap'n was born, the Dead Sea had just taken sick..."
Sorry. Sid had me read the whole Wall Street Journal to him.

Anyway, I didn't do anything further on that template, figuring you can wing it from there. Just for kicks, I took some colors and made a basic template that resembles yours a little bit, except I used solid colors that approximate your images. Ain't as pretty and it's kind of a slap-dash affair, but the reason I posted it was so you could see how much faster it loads compared to one with images and backgrounds. Try viewing it both, especially when image servers are slow, like on Sunday when everybody's listing, which, oddly enough, is when everybody else is trying to buy. Wink

I'm signing off and heading for the horse-pistol for a few days. In the meantime, I'm leaving everything in Sid's capable claws.
