Hiya,
I am in Australia and my training is in Community Development, Social Justice is my Passion, many people are just not as fortunate as us. After what is referred to as the '
Children Overboard affair I realised there is a desperate need for empathic, skilled individuals to work with those that fall through the cracks and become publically stigmatised. I felt I had to work directly with these horrifyingly disadvantaged Asylum Seekers. I mobilised myself to become a Volunteer for a Human Rights organisation,
Asylum Seeker Resource Centre based in Melbourne.
I have volunteered there since 2002 as a Caseworker.
The ASRC is a non government charity. It is truly independent and does not and will never rely on Government funding. That means all our funding is independently sourced. Mainly from private Donors and Philanthropic organisations.
I would love to promote this wonderful, caring and unique organisation. I know it won't be on your survey but I thought I'd just spread the word before I complete the survey!
Cheers Marian.
