Hi Guys,

I hope I am posting this is in the right section....
I have a large item to list which must be shipped via courier to the successful bidder. I have a chart in my listing that lists courier costs to most destinations. My problem is that when I am listing it and I get to the shipping section, and it states that I must put an amount in.
These seem to be my only options...
Flat Rate which then insists I put a cost in so I can proceed (obviously I can't do this because costs vary by location
Calculated - this is for parcels and not for shipping a pallet via courier
If I put in a cost of zero then when it's listed it has "FREE POSTAGE" flashed everywhere.

Can someone please tell me if there is a way I can just bypass the shipping cost for the listing so it says "not specified" or "see item description or contact seller for costs"?

This seems like it should be such a simple thing to do but I can't seem to do it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Mark.

G'day Mark!
This is a tricky situation! After checking our lister to make sure it was working correctly, I went to ebay.com.au and tried to create a listing with courier shipping. You are right--they don't give users the option of having calculated shipping when using courier as the shipping method. Frustrating, I know!

I would recommend that you select the Flat Rate shipping, choose Courier as the method and enter the maximum amount it would possibly cost to ship. Then put a big note in the listing (with a chart of the actual shipping cost based on location) telling the buyer that you will invoice them with the correct shipping cost. Other than that, I don't know how else to do it. EBay doesn't make this easy to deal with Mad

Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck!
Thanks very much for the reply Rebecca. I think your suggestion is the best option that I know how to do but it concerns me that putting the highest rate for shipping will deter bidders that don't take the time to check out my auction.

I see so many sellers that don't have any details listed for shipping and that is what I want. When viewing in gallery view, for shipping it states "not specified" and then when you open the auction it says for shipping "Read item description or contact seller for details".
Here's a link to a seller that has all of his auctions listed that way (but it is not uncommon at all to see this) http://shop.ebay.com.au/pinbal...&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340

How can I list items like this so there is no information regarding shipping?

Just an observation - maybe you need an eBay shop to be able to do this?? I only say this because just checking sellers that have their items listed this way, all have shops. Maybe it's just a coincidence??

Thanks for any help!
Mark.
