I just signed up with Auctiva today, thought everything was fantastic, the listing and image process was incredibly easy. Then I started reading the community boards and realized there is no combined invoicing. I should have known it was too good to be true.

Now I am utterly confused.

I cancelled the two auctions I had already uploaded.

I see that the Auctiva "scroll" is in the bottom of many of my other auctions now.

I do NOT want to have issues with combined invoices, as most my buyers buy more than one item and expect combined postage, which is generally spelled out in the text of the auction. I also do a lot of international sales.

How do I "kill" Auctiva, and will it revert my auctions to the way they were before? Will it remove the other-auctions scroll?

I have a number of auctions ending this evening. Nothing will go thru Auctiva's invoicing, will it?

Hi, The auctiva checkout is switched on when you first sign up. So, if you have listed any auctions through auctiva, those auctions will not be combineable. But there is a way round that if you have a paypal account.

Just go to paypal and combine the invoice there, do a request money to the buyer. Then switch the check out OFF in auctiva and carry on listing. Then all your new listings will go through ebays checkout.

The features in auctiva are great ! and its free !! Also if you ship international then auctiva is a must for you because of the insurance they offer for Int customers.

You can have the ins option on and still have the check out turned off. Don't be in such a rush to leave here, you won't find a better deal anywhere on the internet.
Wow, I am very impressed at the fast response from both community and corporation. Thanks, everybody!

OK,I'm sorry, I seem to have a bad case of the O'duh over this. Please spell this out for me in baby-steps.

I tried to download the training, but it would not complete download. I'll do one of the on-line ones, but have to wait for one that doesn't hit during the ole' 9-5 hours. Smile

I really liked the image management, both corralling them and manipulating them, and the auction building screens were very simple and easy to use.

I also liked the scrolling list of other auctions.

Because I do so many international auctions, I would dearly love to offer insurance on some of the smaller items.

So, if I turn OFF the Auctiva checkout, my auctions will look Auctivaish, but my checkout and invoicing will be same as it's ever been, right?

So then can I just specify the insurance cost myself, by entering it myself on the insurance line?

And rather than paying the USPS for the insurance, then I will request Auctiva insurance, right? How and where do I request or activate it, and how and where and when do I pay for it?

Sorry, but after reading so many threads yesterday, my head was just in a whirl. I read the website up one side and down the other, and couldn't find what I needed.

Also, while I'm at it, why don't pictures rotate when I rotate/save them?

And finally, item 3B on the insurance description. Does that just mean if it's a DVD player, we can't mail it in a box that [I]says[/I} "DVD Player" on the outside? Any box that comes to me is Ebay fodder, so that's kind of vague. My boxes might say anything from electronic equipment to Amazon.

While I'm on a roll, I just thought I'd cover all the bases! Wink

Thanks for ya'll's patience!

Same here, ! I can now offer Ins for small items to Int Cust, shipping with USPS Airmail letter post. USPS won't insure them but auctiva / U-pic will.

YES

Yes, The insurance rate with Auctiva is the same rate as USPS, but the good thing is, the buyer pays you for ins. ie: $1.35 for $50.00 worth of ins, but you then pay auctiva $1.05, so you make money too !!

And rather than paying the USPS for the insurance, then I will request Auctiva insurance, right? How and where do I request or activate it, and how and where and when do I pay for it?

to activate buying ins from auctiva, go to your " My Account " page, look to the left bottom ~ there you will see a link ~ Auctiva Shipping Ins Settings. That link will take you to the correct place to activate ins. You have to put money into an auctiva account, which you then draw on everytime you buy ins.

To buy the ins when a sale ends (and you have to buy it within 48 hrs of the buyer paying you) go to the TRANSACTION PAGE, look for the item that sold, it will have a link next to it, BUY INS ... you can also email the buyer from there to let them know ins was purchased.

The package you mail out will have nothing on it to indicate ins was bought. But there will be a record of ins bought under your transaction page. To make a claim on ins, you need proof of del,

I've no idea on this one, ask the help desk

I'm not sure on that either, but you could use a thick black marker and scuff over any wording on the box.

Your welcome, good luck. Carol.
A note/suggestion to the Auctiva folks:

It would be so much nicer if checkout, adding gallery, etc. would be set to OFF when someone first registers. Some of us with current auctions don't want the scrolling gallery added to ALL of our listings, don't want some buyers funneled to auctiva checkout to start, etc. And we might not make it to those settings when we are first checking the site out.

I was fortunate in that another veteran warned me to change my settings before I had scrolling galleries added to all of my listings! I already have a gallery in my listings, from the service I've been using, and really don't need two (plus ebay's). Cross-promoting my stuff is great, but there is a limit Wink

Hi,

Can you explain what yu mean by " a rider " I am now concerned because all I sell is jewelry !! gulp... I did check terms and conditions here on auctiva about U-pics conditions. I didn't see anythng about not insuring jewelry, except they would not insure "fine" jewelry to about 5 different zip codes.

I think I will chase up on this, before I get a claim.

Thanks for the heads up ..
Carol,
I read the contract very carefully, and took it the same way that you did-issues were only to those items and zips, and the oddly assorted list of countries.

The contract appears to be self-contained. I saw no reference to additional fine print anywhere else.

Sort of off subject, I did some investigation and found a very broad and very reasonably priced collectibles floater to cover my personal collection. If you are like me and are using Ebay to fund and build your own collection, you might sit back and take a rather hard look. You'll be surprised at how the values sneak up on you, and your homeowners policy does not typically cover collectibles. I'll be glad to pass along the name of the company.
Hi, Starry Night.

Here is their website: CollectInsure

Very easy to read, and you can pull a quote and application right off the website.

Very broad policy, A+ rated carrier, rates are very reasonable (much cheaper and less hassle than scheduling on my homeowners policy), and they do not require an inventory.

I would strongly suggest, though, that if your collection is of value enough to consider insuring it in the first place, that you do make an inventory of some kind anyway, or at he very least take a bunch of photos, burn them on a disk, and store it away from the house.

My husband built me a really simple (i.e. idiot-proof) spread sheet. I have everything catalogued, with photos, values, manufacturer, country of origin.

Sorry to get you worried!

I was checking out the upic/auctiva insurance and see that they do include the jewelry rider Smile Except to a few locales, as you noted.

I thought if you turned this feature off it won't apply to already active listings? I'm new myself and want to turn this off but am worried it'll mess up my listing which is almost over. I haven't looked over all the feature and am worried when checkout time comes, I won't have a feature set that should be.
Hi,

I'm sorry if I was unclear in that last post. I should have said that by turning the auctiva checkout off, your NEW listings will go through ebay's checkout.

Any listings that were created and posted to ebay with the auctiva checkout ON will have to go through auctiva checkout. (so if any of them need to be combined, do it through paypal)

If you turn the checkout off now it won't mess up any of your running auctions that are live, they will still go through the auctiva checkout and all your new posts won't.

Hope that made sense ?

Carol
