I'm new at Auctiva and having fun the last few days trying to understand what's going on. I was upset with eBay's new prices on store sales and storage, cancelled my subscription with them, and was hoping to be able to set up a store on Auctiva. I love the neat auction rotating list on my ads but need a store even more. Do I have to have a store somewhere else on the internet? Does it have to be just at eBay or another auction site like Amazon or Yahoo? Or is there a way to transfer auction items that have expire into a real store on Auctiva?

Unfortunately, Mary, the Auctiva store is only a collection of your eBay listings and not actually a store. There are definitely plans in the works, however, to offer standalone, fixed price stores here at Auctiva. This is something they're working on putting together.

In the meantime, if you don't necessarily have to have the auction format option you might check out ecrater.com (a bunch of us here have stores there).
Rick, a friend and I have our own antique shop and we have a web-site. We've been considering adding an on-line store. We want something that's easy to customize, reliable and affordable. Do you think eCrater is easy to use?

I used to design web-sites and make my own graphics, but my business partner isn't very comfortable on the computer. I want to find something that isn't intimidating so that she can feel comfortable sharing the responsibilities.

There's a learning curve with eCrater (particularly with setting up shipping) but the listing part is really very easy. It's not as straightforward as it could be but it's not too tough to learn and it's worth it in my opinion because it's faster and easier than creating a listing for eBay.

Also, there's tons of info in the forums and you can always ask questions there.
I want to thank the Someone who read the post, emailed me and told me about listing on eCrater.com to handle my one of a kind type of inventory. There's not a lot of frills like eBay's stores but it's free so I won't knock it. There's helpful hints on how to list the site to get noticed by Google and other searches once you are set up. I've setting up there for the past week or so and sending my eBay customers(winners) the connections. I do this because I'm thanking them for the win and I offer a shipping discount for combination from my auctions and ecrater store when they win my auction. Once my auctions on eBay have been listed and relisted with no buyer, I put the item in the ecrater store. I might relist on eBay later and that is a good way to save the description for when I do. They also have check outs that use Pay Pal and other services but I haven't had anyone use it yet. I'd rather send them an invoice through Pay Pal.

Later I found out that our Auctiva's store is automatic and has a nice list of all our present auctions on eBay with photos next to all of them like the eBay gallery. It's better than ebay's "me" list of our auctions. Customers can click a small little link just below our Auctiva photos running on our eBay ads to link to our Auctiva store. One of my customers mentioned that he was impressed by my awesome store--probably the Auctiva one. Now all I have to do is get more customers looking at my Auctiva and eCrater stores.
