I have received numerous emails in the past 24 hrs from Buyers asking if there was a mistake on the shipping cost pulling up on the Ebay International calculator.I offer 3-4 choices on shipping International.

All I can say is "I am speechless" because I pulled the rates directly from usps to check. The rates are astronomical-$38 to ship a 6 oz package to Denmark, and $27 for 5 oz package to Canada.Notice I said ounces, not pounds.

This is going to KILL the majority of International business for me.I've been removing international shipping off my auctions.

Anyone else had any problems or questions from buyers?

International First Class is bascially the same as the old Airmail Letter Post. It should not take WEEKS to arrive. Don't forget that packages are often held up in foreign customs, and that's what is causing the delay.

Priority Mail International is the replacement for AirMail Parcel Post. All surface mail options have been eliminated.

A 5 oz package to Canada is only $1.93 by First Class International. For Canada, that should arrive in 7-10 days.
Yep, this pretty does it for me for international sales. No more sales to Canada. Can only send stuff that will fit in a flat rate envelope.
Problem with Int'l First Class is that PayPal will not let you do it online, you HAVE to choose Priority, Flat Rate or Express. What used to cost me $6.25 to ship with Global Priority is now about $15 because the minimum weight is 1lb. There's now way Canadian buyer will pay that. So for those items, I've turned off international shipping. It's a shame, but it seems we can only blame USPS for this. Time to move on.

I use Endicia for my postage, and can choose from any international class. Just like it was previously, PayPal shipping didn't offer AirMail Letter Post either. This is basically the same situation.

If a lot of your sales are international, I would definitely recommend Endicia. You have to adapt when changes like this come along. Smile
I've been shipping International for years and all I can say is Im shocked...

Check these rates I copied and pasted from the emails..this was for a 5 oz package to canada.
Global Express Guaranteed®
See Service Guide Before Mailing 1 - 3 Days Calculate Calculate

Priority Mail® International 6 - 10 Days $16.00
Priority Mail® Flat Rate Box 6 - 10 Days $23.00

And this one is for shipping to Denmark 6oz.

Hi Eva,Thank you for the interest.
I just pulled up the postal rates and am shocked to say the least. Our Postal service just raised the rates Monday and their unbelievable.
I would be mailing a 6 oz package and these are the rates (which you can pull your self).
Rate charts and complete information for Denmark
Mailing Services Estimated Delivery Time * Price

Express Mail® International 3 - 5 Days $25.00
Priority Mail® International 6 - 10 Days $20.00
Priority Mail® Flat Rate Box 6 - 10 Days $37.00
First-Class Mail® International Varies $5.40

And these aren't with any handling or insurance added- just the straight rates.
roughly 50% of my sales are international. For me, it would be well worth it if I have to stand in line at the post office in order to get correct postage on a package - BUT, if you get yourself a decent scale, you can often avoid even doing that. I buy postage in advance (I go into the post office during a slow period when there's no line), weigh all packages and then affix the proper postage. Voila, no waiting in line.

I don't think that's too burdensome for a significant amount of sales...try it, your milage may vary but it will probably be worth it.
I've got a great electronic digital scale and only live 4 blocks from the PO, but have always used Paypal's shipping service.

What I wasn't aware of and it's my fault for not reading and paying attention, is that the box size rates have changed.A package that would normally cost me $10 and change just ended up costing $16.60 because I didn't measure it. And I found out insurance went from $1.35 to $1.65.
I think Im going to vacation for the summmer, and just prep for the fall and wait and see how things go considering I know the summer happens to be the worst time for me to sell by experience.

Good luck to everyone on your sales !
