Hi there I am brand spanking new and based in OZ, I have been navigating my way round listings and decided to do a practice one, I got most of it done and then saved it, into my new listings, when I found out a little more info. regarding profiles and choose items specifics, I opened up the saved listing to edit it and add a master profile and the item specifics but it won't save them to my saved listing, when I click onto the dropdown list for Master profile it tells me that this will overwrite all the current auction fields with your profile defaults, so I click on the load button check my listing and it is exactly the same, I cannot add any of my profiles to this listing. Is this because I saved it ?? or am I missing something Please help this newbie before i resort back to using ebay's listing tools.

Hi there, a little patience will pay dividends, I am not quite sure what you are doing so here is the general approach (not using templates) I use :-

1) create all the sub-profiles, e.g item details, shipping etc you need for the now.

2) create master profiles containing the appropriate sub-profiles, e.g. different combinations for different groups of wares.

3) then create a listing using the required master profile.

4) preview and error check before saving. But if the text content is long either paste from Word or save frequently as on line editing is prone to loss by hiccups in your internet connection.

5) For more of the same item you could just follow up by using create similar and just change e.g. the shipping profile because maybe this item is a much bigger version of the previous one and costs more to ship.

Profiles are a very powerful aid to listing construction you can even do bulk find and replace on these as well if a widespread change is required across many listings later.

Profiles (and templates) take a bit of effort to set up but pay dividends as time saving when you start writing many listings. It also aids consistency in appearence when building a brand or style.

When you load one after you start to create or re-edit a listing it will overwite the existing fields it applies to.

Unfortunately when you re-edit a listing the editor does not tell you what was used to create the listing more is the pity.

I hope that helps (rather than confuse) a bit Smile
