I am confused about the profiles and how to get them into the template. I went in and did each of the profiles and when I went to view my auction, there was only the DESCRIPTION text showing. What am I doing wrong? Is it because I chose the master first and it didn't have the other profiles included? Thanks for any comments. I'm trying to use this format as much as possible. Also can anyone tell me how to be able to add photos to the description area? I was told you could insert up to 24 for free also. Thanks again all!

Hi,

Hmmmm....I understand your confusion. Eek

Templates aren't 100% of what goes into building a listing. In essence, the Template only constitutes the portion of the "eBay defined" section of the listing called the DESCRIPTION section. That's all the HTML code and/or text and pictures and the Auctiva Store Window code. That's why you can copy and paste the Saved Listing code using the <HTML> icon directly to eBay's description section.

The Seller Details profile relates directly to tags used in Templates. That Profile is selected directly right of the box for selecting Template in the one-page lister. Think of the Seller Details as text entry that supports those headers, like Payment. You can also create a Description that's part of an Item Details profile and that is obviously used in the template tags.

The other Profiles support fill-in areas on the one-page for sections, like the Shipping Tools section. Don't confuse the Shipping profile with the Seller Details profile that has a Shipping fill-in (which is text and maybe some HTML to support the text).

You can choose a Template as part of an Item Details Profile. That profile also allows you to choose a Seller Details profile to go with the Template. Maybe that's where you're having the disconnect with getting the Template and all the Seller Details stuff to insert correctly?

Once you've chosen a Template, you're able to use the add Image 1 - 24 on the one-page lister. You can also do that in creating the Item Details profile. Those 1-24 image tags are positioned and type of view method chosen (like thumbnail) using the template selector.

Hi,

Good questions. Smile

The one-page lister is kinda the nickname given to the listing creator. The eBay lister (at eBay) is also often referred to as the one-page....create a new listing with one web page. You can get there by creating a New Listing from the LISTINGS tab page. For Saved Listings, use the Saved Listings page and click on any saved listing to goto the one-page listing editor.

The Seller Details can be added with a Template selection as part of an Item Details profile. That Item Details can be added as part of a Master Profile (one of the selections in building a Master Profile is "Detail Profile"). You can also directly select a Template and use the drop-down list (at right) to select a Seller Details profile in the one-page, i.e. it's not mandatory to create an Item Details profile to use templates or Seller Details profile.

Don't you just hate the jargon? hehe Big Grin

First of all Danno, thank you for sharing your expertise in these matters. I greatly appreciate your time and effort on my behalf. It sounds like you're very knowledgeable about this whole auction thing. I will review all your info tomorrow and see if I can make sense of it. YES, I do hate the confusing jargon! LOL Thanks again and have a great evening. (Why do I have the uncontrollable urge to sign off, with "book 'em?"

Wouldn't you know, my last selling on eBay before the insanity started last spring was Antiquarian Books. ROFL

BTW....got the nickname from old friends at the original Network Solutions from booking business on marketing calls (techie problems). They use to call-out "book'em Danno" on my way out the door.
