i want uk only and £ currency

i am based in the uk and do not wish my listings to come up in $'s, nor do i want to ship to USA?
I have attempted to check my settings and have changed my country to uk but it still holds $ as the currency - help??
i want uk only and £ currency if this is possible. Is there something small i am missing??
