ok I have a custom template. I have it designed so I can change the background in the template simply by selecting an image.

In this case, image 16 is my backgraound --- or should be! Meaning when I create the listing the image I select for image 16 becomes my background.

NOW, here's my problem - I can't select image 16! There is only 1 image for the item itself = image 1 so it's the preview image and the gallery image etc.
When I click on image 16 and my images appear and I click it it gets a 2 on it and goes into image 2 spot ... but I don't want it there! I want to make the be image 16!

HOW can I do that?

My template is designed to have 12 images in the body just incase I need them. images 13-16 are placed so I can simply put images there to complate my template.
BUT I can't seem to tell Auctiva what image number the image needs to be!

HELP!

well here's the answer I received from Jeff -

Sorry that can't be done. We fill them in in order.

Depending on how many backgrounds you use you could just create 1 template per background.

There is a chance it may work if you used our new option for self hosted images and enterd the URL's into the box for image 16. I'm not sure though. That would likely be way too much work entering URL's for images for each listing.

So that tells me I got to change my templates AGAIN, lol.

Anyone know how to create a template here - with all the images hosted here - that that one template can have interchangable backgrounds?
Hi BTPS,

I know exactly what you are referring to. I use the same method for creating my basic templates, so I had to figure out a quick work-around when my SD account transferred to IF. IF has an image position migrating set-up similar to Auctiva.

What I do to make my personal background picker work from within my template, is put a 1 pixel clear gif in each of the image slots I'm not using for that listing. It acts as a placeholder to allow me to use 13-16 for backgrounds, buttons, or whatever. This way my template coding still works. (I just uploaded some clear gifs, named them and pick them just like a regular image.)

I have not tried this with Auctiva yet since I'm just beginning to make this switch, but it should work.

I hope this helps, and also hope that it works with Auctiva because this is my favorite method for customizing my templates.
