Is ebay search powered by google?

I noticed something strange the other day, I was researching some items on ebay, when the search quit working. The page kept timing out. But all other pages worked, ebay home page worked, my ebay page worked, only the search.ebay.com didn't work.
So I pop open another tab and head to google. Google didn't work either! It timed out. I kept refreshing, and in about a minute Google started working again. I head back to ebay, and it's search is working again, too.
Coincidence?
